For this large-scale mural at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica, I began the design process by interviewing students and learning what they loved most about their Club. Their ideas included LEGOs, palm trees, art, sports, the ocean, and other personal details that made the space meaningful to them. I incorporated these elements throughout the final design to create a mural that felt genuinely representative of the community.

The goal was to create something colorful, playful, and energetic while still feeling polished and age-appropriate for a middle school audience. I also intentionally developed the artwork with a simplified, approachable design that allowed students to participate directly in the painting process.

During the community workshop, students helped bring the mural to life while learning about large-scale painting, color, and the mural-making process. The finished piece became both a visual transformation of the space and a collaborative artwork created with the students who use it.
